Fatal Mistake lyrics
Original Guristas-inspired alternative rock / post-grunge version
[Intro - whispered male]
Octopus squadron...
Fatal...
Rabbit...
Run.
[Verse 1 - male]
The Caldari built a cage out of doctrine and debt,
Put pilots in numbers, told them never forget.
But greed had a grin and a knife in its teeth,
Fatal saw the lock and kicked out underneath.
[Verse 2 - female]
Rabbit drew a map through the static and scars,
Venal lit up like a throat full of stars.
We were exiles in leather, black flags unfurled,
Beautiful Gurista girls burning holes in the world.
[Pre-Chorus - duet]
You made a Fatal mistake,
When you taught us how to fly.
You made a Fatal mistake,
Now your navy asks us why.
[Chorus - duet]
We are the rabbits in the wire,
We are the kiss before the raid.
Make love like rabbits under missile fire,
Then disappear before the ransom's paid.
Fatal mistake, Fatal mistake,
Caldari hearts break when the Guristas wake.
[Verse 3 - male]
Rileau learned silence in a sleeping-gas dream,
Diplomats fold when the boarding ramps scream.
Crielere burned with a scientist's name,
Rabbit breached the dark while Fatal drew the flame.
[Verse 4 - female]
No creed, no prayer, just profit and speed,
Black-market roses and capsuleer greed.
Worms in the hangar, Gilas in bloom,
Rattlesnake thunder in the honeymoon room.
[Bridge - alternating]
Male: Venal!
Female: Rabbit!
Male: Fatal!
Female: Girls with teeth!
Male: State-made monsters!
Female: Too wild to leash!
[Breakdown - duet]
We kiss like sabotage.
We love like contraband.
We run like stolen engines.
We bite the feeding hand.
[Final Chorus - duet]
We are the rabbits in the wire,
We are the kiss before the raid.
Make love like rabbits under missile fire,
Then disappear before the ransom's paid.
Fatal mistake, Fatal mistake,
Caldari hearts break when the Guristas wake.
[Outro - female]
Beautiful Gurista girls in the afterglow,
Rabbit marks in the neon snow.
Fatal smiled when the State line cracked,
And no clean navy ever got us back.
